Presenter: Dr. Jack Fischel, Commonwealth Speaker for the Pennsylvania Humanities Council (PHC); Professor of History at Millersville University

Dr. Fischel's presentation is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council.

Dr. Fischel's talk will examine America's national interest in the Middle East as impacts on our relationship with Israel and the overall war on terrorism. His talk will focus on the breakdown of the peace process and why it matters to the United States, the consequences for stability in the region should we engage in war against Iraq, and how the overthrow of Saddam Hussein will impact on the war against terrorism.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Jack Fischel is the chair of the Department of History at Millersville University of Pa., and the author of numerous reviews and articles on the Middle East. Dr. Fischel has published in The Weekly Standard, Forward, Commonweal, Midstream, Jewish Exponent, Philadelphia Inquirer and The New Jersey Jewish News. His article, "The Road to 9-11" apppeared in the Summer 2002 issue of Virginia Quarterly. Dr. Fischel is a past recipient of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Distinguished Service Award, and Excellence in Teaching Award.
