Topic: PA Academic Standards for Science and Technology Education:
            Implementation Strategies

Presenter: Dr. G. Kip Bollinger, Pennsylvania Dept. of Education

This session will provide a brief overview of the nature of each of the eight standards areas and their relation to national standards. Additionally, the program will present information on appropriate curriculum and instruction to use in K-12 science. Aligning assessment with standards will demonstrate techniques to use in classroom assessment. An update on Pennsylvania plans to assess science as part of the No Child Left Behind initiative will be provided.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Bollinger has been with the Pennsylvania Department of Education since 1987. He presently serves as their Science Education Advisor. In this role, Dr. Bollinger provides leadership and technical assistance to school districts in developing diverse initiatives in science and technology education. Dr. Bollinger is also an Adjunct Professor at Lebanon Valley College, Carnegie Mellon University and Juniata College.
