Topic: Using NASA materials for Science, Technology, and History Educational Curriculum (Part I)

Presenter: Dr. Dennie E. Templeton, Director of Distance Education,
Radford University
The purpose of this workshop is to show how NASA related materials can be used in
K-12 and higher education to support learning objectives in science,
technology, and history. NASA's extensive on-line research information and
educational programs provide a wealth of information for teachers and faculty.
The workshop will explore and navigate a number of on-line sites that are NASA
related and provide research and instructional information for science and
technology education curriculum. The workshop also introduces participants to
the history of NASA and an introduction to a future videostreaming section on NASA and Space history.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Templeton is currently the Director of Distance Education at Radford University
in Radford, Virginia. He also teaches classes for the College of Education and
Computer Science Department. Dr. Templeton spent 23 years in the United States
Navy and for 18 years served aboard six nuclear submarines and at three naval
training commands. During his military career, Dr. Templeton worked with
several departments at NASA during submarine launched missile testing and
evaluation periods as well as taught NASA history courses and workshops at
several colleges. He holds a Doctorate of Education and a Masters degree in
Technology Education from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Education
degree from Southern Illinois University.
