Topic: Teacher-Created
Web Presentation Made Easy with Impatica!
Presenter: Dr. Scott Garrigan
Up 'til now it was too complicated for a normal teacher to
create rich-media web content, but this product makes it practical.
Impatica for PowerPoint (Windows and Macintosh) is
software that places narrated PowerPoint presentations in web
pages in such a way that all the technical hard work is done
for you. The easy steps are: 1) Create a simple PowerPoint presentation
with text, images, graphs or even video. 2) Narrate the presentation
slide by slide. 3) Impaticize the presentation and
you're done! Impatica does several things to your presentation
to make it web friendly. Join this free presentation to find
out more.

Topic: Online Instruction:
How can we make this work and why should we try?
Presenter: Dr. Suzanne Rose
This session will share a successful online language arts class
for eighth grade students, including examples of students' online
work. Participants will have opportunities to see examples of
instructional materials used in the online format and to discuss
the logistics of organizing a similar course, how to meet academic
standards through online instruction, and benefits of online
instruction for students and the school.
To register for this event click
here and select "New". You will then receive instructions
how to sign into iLinc (CAPE Learning Community) for this event.

Topic: A Dozen Free and
Open Source Software Titles for the Classroom
Presenter: Dr. Scott Garrigan
If you couldn't attend the recent PETE&C conference, or
if you attended but couldn't fit into Scott's standing-room
only session, this virtual event is for you. Most computer-using
educators now know that free and open-source software exists,
but they don't know what will run on their computers and what
to try with their students. This virtual event will provide
an overview of a dozen great free and open-source classroom
programs from the primary to high school level and from language
arts to science. Since this software can also be freely downloaded
for use at home, educators and technologists may be interested
in exploring some of this software outside of the school. The
presentation will show you where to get the twelve applications
which will run on any kind of computer (Windows, Macintosh and
Linux).
